DEVELOPING SOCIOLINGUISTIC COMPETENCE THROUGH AUTHENTIC MATERIALS IN PRIMARY SCHOOL
This article explores the role of authentic materials—such as menus, videos, and advertisements—in helping primary school students develop sociolinguistic competence. This competence is the ability to use language effectively in social contexts, a skill often overlooked in traditional language teaching. By introducing these materials into the classroom, teachers can create real-world connections that help students become more confident and adaptable communicators. This approach also fosters cultural awareness, making language learning more practical and engaging for young learners.
