A SUSTAINABILITY INDEX FOR CIRCULAR ECONOMY IN UZBEKISTAN: MEASURING ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL, AND ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE
This research introduces a comprehensive Sustainability Index for Uzbekistan, a novel composite index that integrates principles of sustainable development and the circular economy. Drawing upon international frameworks such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the model adapts global sustainability assessment principles to Uzbekistan’s unique environmental, social, and economic context. The index includes seven indicators across three dimensions: environmental, social, and economic sustainability. Each indicator is normalized, weighted, and aggregated using a Min-Max-based formula. Although this study is conceptual in nature and does not utilize real-time data, it offers a fully operational framework ready for empirical testing. This tool aims to support national policy formulation, sustainability tracking, and transition to a circular economy.
