From Catalogue to Characterization: The Next Phase of the 500 pc Hot Subdwarf Study

The 500 pc sample has provided valuable insights into the local population of hot subdwarf stars, shedding light on their space density and spatial distribution. To further refine our understanding, we have recently undertaken a comprehensive spectroscopic analysis, obtaining multiple medium- to high-resolution spectra for each confirmed hot subdwarf in the sample. By applying a homogeneous spectroscopic approach using a state-of-the-art model grid, we aim to derive precise atmospheric parameters, while systematically assessing radial velocity variability to identify all potential close binaries in the sample. Additionally, we constrain spectral energy distribution (SED) fits to determine stellar masses, radii, and luminosities. In this talk, I will present the first results of our atmospheric analysis and the mass distribution derived from it, offering new insights into the fundamental properties of these stars.
