Supporting materials for the Arctic Limacina helicina population study

This dataset contains supplementary materials associated with a study on the phylogeography of Limacina helicina—a climate-sensitive planktonic pteropod—across the Siberian Arctic shelf seas. It includes: Supplementary Table S1 – Sampling metadata and mitochondrial COI haplotype data for L. helicina, including geographic coordinates, sampling depths and dates, specimen identifiers, and haplotype assignments. Supplementary Table S2 – Matrix of average pairwise nucleotide differences (π) between and within regional populations of L. helicina, based on mitochondrial COI sequences. The matrix supports population genetic and spatial structure analyses across Arctic marine regions. These materials support the investigation of genetic diversity, population connectivity, and the role of hydrographic and historical factors in shaping biogeographic boundaries in the Arctic pelagic ecosystem. This research was conducted within the framework of the state assignment [FMWE-2024–0023 – sample collection and taxonomic processing] and supported by the Russian Science Foundation [Project No. 25-77-30002 – molecular and statistical analyses].
