INTEGRATING PMOS AND AI: REVOLUTIONIZING STRATEGIC EXECUTION.

This paper explores the transformative potential of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into Project Management Offices (PMOs) to enhance strategic alignment, decision-making, and organizational agility. Co-authored by David Nii Amu Quarcoo and William Tetteh, Chief Capital Projects Officer and Head of PMO at MTN Ghana, the study provides both theoretical insights and practical reflections on how AI technologies; such as predictive analytics, intelligent automation, and natural language processing can revolutionize project portfolio management. Drawing from real-world experiences at MTN Ghana and established PMO best practices, the paper proposes a strategic framework for AI adoption within PMOs, detailing key enablers such as data readiness, executive sponsorship, and change management. The article also addresses the challenges associated with integrating AI into governance structures and highlights opportunities for PMOs to serve as innovation catalysts in the digital era. By positioning PMOs as strategic partners to executive leadership, this work contributes to the ongoing discourse on digital transformation and the future of enterprise project governance.
