D13.1 Basic e-learning module on Oncogenomics for Health Professionals
In Workpackage 13 of the CAN.HEAL project a basic e-learning course on Oncogenomics for physicians and other health professionals was developed and disseminated in Europe to foster implementation of Personalised Cancer Medicine. The Learning Objectives (LOs) of the course aimed at improving knowledge and know-how of non-geneticist health professionals on basic principles of genetics and main applications of genomics in cancer prevention, diagnosis and care. The LOs were identified in the iPAAC Joint Action, in which a pilot English version of the e-learning was tested in Italy. Building on the results of this preliminary pilot, in CAN.HEAL (Task 13.1) the training materials were reviewed and translated into four latin languages (IT, SP, FR, PT). The teaching modality was inspired by the Problem Based Learning method. Self-assessment tests, certification test and a satisfaction questionnaire were integrated in the course to evaluate its efficacy in different perspectives. The e-learning course received Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits by European (EACCME) and national accreditation bodies. English, Italian and Spanish versions of the course were deployed on existing national e-learning platforms in Italy (www.eduiss.it) and Spain (https://e-oncologia.org). Professionals from Belgium, Latvia, Malta, Portugal and Slovenia accessed the English version of the e-learning. Data collected during deployment in different countries will allow to assess the impact of the course in terms of adhesion, knowledge increase and users' satisfaction.
