A COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION OF CYMBOPOGON CITRATUS LEAVES FOR BIOACTIVITY AND THERAPEUTIC POTENTIAL
Cymbopogon citratus (lemon grass) is a widely used medicinal herb with a long history in traditional therapies. This study investigates its phytochemical constituents and evaluates its biological properties, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, thrombolytic, anthelmintic, and antimicrobial activities. Aqueous and methanolic extracts were prepared and subjected to qualitative phytochemical screening and Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC). Antioxidant activity was determined using DPPH assay, anti-inflammatory effect by HRBC membrane stabilization, and thrombolytic potential through in vitro clot lysis.
