Deliverable D2.2: Initial architecture of ORIGAMI, new business models and refinement of requirements and KPIs

This deliverable builds upon D2.1 [1], which provided a comprehensive analysis of the key barriers limiting current mobile network infrastructures, identified architectural requirements, and introduced Key Value Indicators (KVIs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure success. These efforts laid the groundwork for the development of innovative architectural solutions that address the challenges of scalability, interoperability, security, and network efficiency in future mobile networks. D2.2 provides the initial architecture of ORIGAMI, further detailing the Zero Trust Exposure Layer (ZTL), Compute Continuum Layer (CCL), and Global Service-Based Architecture (GSBA). These architectural components were introduced in D2.1 [1], and this deliverable expands upon their definitions, implementation considerations, and their alignment with evolving 6G network paradigms, as well as their integration into a single architectural view. Another major focus of WP2 is the introduction of new business models that will enable the sustainable deployment of ORIGAMI’s architectural solutions. In this document, we discuss how the proposed architecture innovations of ORIGAMI enable business scenarios for e.g. integrated vertical services and collaborations across different business entities. In this context, we discussed the required information exchange and the interactions between different stakeholders. This includes exploring new operator models, economic feasibility, and the role of multi-stakeholder collaboration in achieving widespread adoption. A significant aspect of D2.2 is the expansion of ORIGAMI’s use cases. While 4 use cases from D2.1 have been revised to reflect new insights and refinements coming from the development of the use cases in WP3 and WP4 as well as to satisfy new requirements according to feedback from the same WPs. This deliverable introduces 13 new use cases, addressing challenges and opportunities that have emerged as the project progresses. These new use cases explore novel aspects of network intelligence (NI), automation, interoperability, and sustainability in the context of the evolving 6G landscape. They also demonstrate how ORIGAMI’s architectural components can be applied to practical scenarios, bridging the gap between conceptual frameworks and real-world deployments. Together, D2.1[1] and D2.2 introduces 23 use cases tackling 8 barriers, summarized in Table 1 alongside where to find the use case descriptions and the latest updates.
