FARABI'S VIEWS ON SPEECH AND THE COMMUNICATIVE FEATURES OF SPEECH
This paper explores the philosophical perspectives of Al-Farabi on the nature of speech and its essential role in human communication. Farabi, a prominent medieval Islamic philosopher and linguist, emphasized speech as a unique human faculty that facilitates the expression of thought and the transmission of knowledge. The study examines Farabi’s conceptualization of speech as a tool for conveying meaning and shaping social interaction. Additionally, the communicative characteristics of speech, including its intentionality, context-dependence, and effectiveness in interpersonal communication, are analyzed based on Farabi’s works and subsequent interpretations.
