Status of the Spectrum Management for VGOS

The VLBI Global Observing System (VGOS) utilizes broadband feeds at their radio telescopes in order to observe cosmic radiation in the frequency range of 2-14 GHz. These observations are increasingly in danger by unwanted electromagnetic emissions from telecommunications. Protection of observation sites requires an active spectrum management by the users of spectrum. The International VLBI Service for Geodesy and Astrometry (IVS) together with the European Committee on Radio Astronomy Frequencies (CRAF) are providing guidance in spectrum management. The intention is to bring geodetic VLBI into the Radio Regulations (RR) at the level of the International Telecommunications Union - Radiocommunications (ITU-R). Therefore an Agenda Item on Geodetic VLBI shall be achieved for the World Radio Conference 2031. The presentation shows the status and provides some insights of spectrum management and the RR.
