FOOD AND NUTRITION EDUCATION: AN EXPERIENCE WITH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHERS
Introduction: The promotion of healthy eating in the school environment is based on a comprehensive and multidisciplinary view of the human being, contributing to the promotion of health and well-being of the entire school community. Objective: To implement and evaluate a proposal of actions in Food and Nutrition Education with teachers of the public basic education network, using the "Dietary Guidelines for the Brazilian population" as a reference instrument for educational actions and the problematization methodology as a pedagogical strategy. Methodology: Qualitative exploratory-descriptive, taking action-research as methodological reference, guiding the study steps based on the Charles-Maguerez Arc Method. The research was developed in a state public school located in Salvador-Ba, between September/2016 and February /2017, with high school teachers and managers of the institution. Results and discussion: The activities achieved the expected results for the evaluated dimensions. The teachers said they felt able to apply the knowledge acquired and recognized the applicability and reproducibility in their work routine, thus converging on a proposal that contributes to the creation of a favorable environment for the promotion of adequate and healthy eating at school. Conclusion: The "Food Guide for the Brazilian Population" can be considered an effective pedagogical and political tool for the development of activities in EAN, especially when associated with active teaching and learning methodologies.
