THE ROLE OF PEER ASSESSMENT IN INPEDENDENT STUDY FOR HIGH SCHOOL FOREIGN LANGUAGE LEARNERS
Independent study offers high school students the freedom to explore topics at their own pace, but it also comes with challenges like limited interaction and varying resources. Peer assessment stands out as a way to address these gaps. By evaluating each other’s work, students develop critical thinking, improve collaboration, and reflect on their learning journeys. Especially when working with diverse textbooks, peer assessment helps students connect different perspectives and ideas. On the other hand, the independent study tasks close gaps made while studying in the classroom and also gives an opportunity to explore the subject by themselves.
