Contextual vocabulary learning in legal news: a functional approach to teaching legal English

In today’s globalized legal environment, Legal English instruction is vital for training multilingual professionals in law, diplomacy, and translation. This article examines the functional teaching of legal terminology using authentic news texts. By analyzing a sourcebook titled The Language of Law in News, the study shows how context-based instruction improves legal vocabulary retention, intercultural awareness, and functional language use in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) courses.
