Economic Inequality and Wealth Redistribution
ABSTRACT Inequality and wealth redistribution are two of the most important causes of inequality in the world. In Somalia, economic inequality has led to significant disparities in social cohesion, limited opportunities for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, and posed a threat to long-term societal stability. This research aims to investigateeconomic inequality in Somalia and develop comprehensive strategies to reduce it, promote equitable distribution ofresources, and create a more just and sustainable society. The study employs a qualitative research design, including semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, and document analysis, to analyze the historical and cultural factors that have contributed to economic inequality, evaluate the effectiveness of existing policies and initiatives aimed at reducing inequality, and develop new evidence-based policy proposals that address the root causes of economic inequality. The research findings reveal that economic inequality is a complex and dynamic issue, encompassing factors such as gender inequality, clan-based conflicts, political instability, and the impact of the civil war. Moreover, the current research dissects cultural influences and unravels the repercussions of past conflicts, thereby shedding light on the efficacy of strategies employed to rectify economic disparities. The current research weaves itself into the rich tapestry of knowledge on economic inequality and presents practical implications and strategies for policymakers, organizations, and communities to address wealth disparities and foster equitable societies.
