Leadership Development Radar
The Leadership Development Radar (LDR) is an innovative assessment tool for evaluating leaders’ professional development. It operates by a dual approach that facilitates a 360-degree view of leadership performance. By analyzing radar diagrams generated from the LDR scoring system, leaders can visually assess their strengths and areas for improvement. This paper presents the findings from a pilot study that rigorously tested the reliability and validity of these inventories. The LDR self-report inventory demonstrated a high internal consistency with a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.89, while the observer-report inventory achieved a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.87, indicating strong reliability. Exploratory factor analysis revealed four distinct factors for the self-report inventory and three for the observer-report inventory, collectively explaining 77.6% and 58.8% of the variance, respectively. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed good model fit with Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) values below 0.08 and Comparative Fit Index (CFI) values exceeding 0.90 for both inventories. Besides, significant positive correlations (r = 0.72) between self-reported scores and peer feedback underscored the concurrent validity of the LDR. These findings affirm that the LDR is a reliable and valid tool for assessing leadership capabilities. It provides organizational leaders with practical recommendations for professional development. The LDR inventories are included in this paper.
