Nutritional Strategies to Boost Immunity against SARS-CoV-2

Currently, SARS-CoV-2 is the major and continuing global threat. The epidemic aroused firstly from the Wuhan city of China, and then spread rapidly to other provinces of the republic leading to a span of more than two-third countries worldwide. After the rapid onset, WHO declared COVID-19 to be a worldwide pandemic. Its transmission is through air droplets via breathing or interaction with infected individuals. The latent period of the disease varies from two to fourteen days. Individuals with compromised and damaged immune systems and other heart and respiratory disorders are more vulnerable to septicity, and are at risk of serious illness or even death. Typically, symptoms of the virus are fever, cough, sore throat, breathlessness, exhaustion, and much more. Keeping in mind the vaccine to treat the pandemic is still in trial phase so the present review was aimed at reporting significant common food plants with antibacterial, anti-viral, anti-oxidant, immune modulators and vitamin effects that can prove effective for COVID-19 patients. In order to reinforce infections of gastro-intestinal and respiratory tract and to make immune stronger the common food plants used may have a substantial effect on the health of a COVID infected patient. As per the consequences, great number of people are limited to their homes, hence, the incorporation of these readily obtainable plants in the day-to-day nutrition will help to maintain the immune responses to fight against SARS-CoV-2 infection. In turn, immune boosting immune may decrease the risk of getting COVID-19, and cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection can result in rapid recover.
