Effect of Fit Vidyalaya Training Program on Selected Physical Fitness Variables Among Eighth Standard School Students

The study aims to explore the effect of the fit vidyalaya training program on selected physical fitness variablesamong eighth-grade school students. Participants: One hundred school students from Sri RamakrishnaMission Vidyalaya Swami Shivananda Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore, were selected as participants. The age of the subjects ranged from 11 to 13 years. Independent variable: Fit Vidyalaya Training Program,Dependent variables: Upper body Explosive strength, Lower Body Explosive strength, Endurance, Agility.Criterion Measures: Upper body Explosive strength is measured by Softball throw; Lower Body Explosivestrength is measured by Standing Broad Jump; Endurance is measured by 600 m run; Agility is measured by10 m X 4 times Shuttle run. Statistical Technique: A paired t-test was used to test the mean difference betweenthe pre- and post-test. Training Protocol: During the training - 6 weeks, Number of days per week - 2 days, Number of sessions per day - 1 session (1hour) and Duration of session - 60 minutes. The significant improvements across physical fitness variablesunderscore the effectiveness of integrating fid Vidyalaya training program. It is concluded that the year-longfit Vidyalaya training program significantly enhanced upper body explosive strength, lower body explosivestrength, endurance, and agility among eighth standard school students.
