Teachers' Awareness on the Use of Mindfulness Techniques

Abstract: Studying the teachers’ mindfulness techniques promises to provide a clear and comprehensive baseline understanding of this phenomenon. In this context, this study investigated college teachers’ level of awareness of using mindfulness techniques in a state university in Western Palawan as a basis for an action plan. Data for this descriptive study was collected from 110 teacher-respondents using a researcher-made instrument that has passed the rigorous validity and reliability tests. The results revealed a high overall level of awareness of mindfulness techniques across all domains. Teachers recognized the benefits of mindfulness for students' emotional well-being, focus, and stress reduction. Moreover, when grouped according to demographic variables, no significant differences were found in teachers' awareness levels, indicating a consistent understanding and appreciation of mindfulness techniques across various teacher profiles. Despite the high levels of awareness, gaps remained in areas such as engaging with current research and attending professional development programs. The study has thus far highlighted the importance of reinforcing teachers' mindfulness practices through targeted training and proposed an action plan to ensure more systematic implementation in the educational setting Keywords: Awareness, mindfulness, teachers, techniques
