Historique et méthodologie des recherches
History and methodology of research.- Excavation methods at the Igue du Gral have not been consistent, but have always sought results comparable to those of Upper Palaeolithic settlement sites. We were faced with a complex underground environment and, at least initially, very limited resources. From the outset, our research was designed to allow comparisons between a paleontological site and the archaeological deposits of the region (habitation sites and decorated caves). The Igue du Gral is exceptional in combining, over a relatively long chronological sequence, a diversity of paleontological approaches, reconstruction of paleo-environments and direct comparison with data from archaeological research.
