EJP SOIL - EnergyLink: Report on heat dissipation
This report provides information on the dataset of Task 5.1. The task, which is led by Anke Herrmann, is dedicated to exploring heat dissipation from soils amended with (i) individual low molecular weight carbon (C) substrates (50 μg C g-1 soil, mimicking the rhizosphere) or (ii) combinations of 2, 4, 6, 9, 12 or 17 of these substrates in order to establish substrate diversity profiles, i.e. more diverse substrate additions but same amount of C addition of 50 μg C g-1 soil. This task is built around the hypothesis that microbial metabolism will decrease with increasing substrate diversity, due to the necessary increase in enzyme production (see D5.4) (Nunan et al., 2020).
