Climate Change and Air Quality: The Potential Impact on Health
The study's goals were to identify vulnerable populations and possible adaptation strategies, examine the possible health effects on Australia and the region from changes in air quality brought on by climate change, and talk about the policy ramifications. The authors explore the policy implications and give a summary of national and international data on the possible health effects of air pollutants that would most likely be impacted by climate change. The levels of ozone and potentially particles, which are linked to higher mortality and a variety of respiratory and cardiovascular health consequences, are expected to be impacted by climate change. Therefore, one of the ramifications is the potential rise in harmful health impacts brought on by air pollutants. Air quality, existing coping mechanisms, and the need for adaptation, especially for vulnerable populations, should all be included in regional health impact assessments of climate change. Implications for policy include the need for better air pollutant level modeling and forecasting, more efforts to cut emissions, ongoing air pollutant level monitoring, and tracking the prevalence of air pollutant-related health effects in all of the region's countries.
