Coconut oil (Cocos nucifera) and Beeswax (Cera alba) as a Natural Shoe Polish
Synthetic shoe polishes commonly have harmful ingredients that pose risk to health and the environment. Natural ingredients such as beeswax (Cera alba), which provide water resistance and a protective layer, and coconut oil (Cocos nucifera), known for boosting shine and preventing leather damage, present a promising alternative. However, research on their combined effectiveness as a shoe polish remains limited. Some studies suggest that natural formulations can match or outperform synthetic counterparts in providing a protective layer and enhancing gloss. This study examined the gloss, pH, and melting point of the natural shoe polish made from the coconut oil (C. nucifera) and beeswax (C. alba) and commercial shoe polishes.
