Prior planning of the movement of inputs through Simulation
Cargo handling and storage, along with its management, are fundamental activities in company logistics. These actions must be carried out in a planned and safe manner, respecting the limits of the equipment, the appropriate storage locations, and the processing time to avoid bottlenecks in the process. This work will address the operation of a company focused on the rail transport sector that will need to move all the inventory from its warehouse to another unit. Using simulation techniques through the Arena tool, the best way to execute this operation without encountering bottlenecks and in the shortest time possible will be analyzed. The research will employ exploratory and quantitative methods, requiring the collection of data such as loading and unloading times, transportation capacity of vehicles and equipment used in the operation, and the quantitative volume of cargo moved. All this data will be organized in tables to allow for conclusive analysis. This method led to a satisfactory result with the help of the Arena software.
