PECULIARITIES OF TRANSLATING OXYMORONS IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK

This article analyzes the peculiarities of translating oxymoronic units in English and Uzbek. As a stylistic device, oxymorons are widely used in both Uzbek and English literature, and their translation process can present semantic and stylistic challenges. The study examines translation variants of oxymorons by providing examples from the works of prominent representatives of Uzbek and English literature. The analysis is conducted based on advanced translation theories, including the principles of Nida, Newmark, Vinay, and Darbelnet. The findings help identify issues such as semantic shifts in translation, the preservation or loss of stylistic functions, and the overall impact on meaning.
