THE PROBLEM OF EQUIVALENCE AND ADEQUACY IN LITERARY TRANSLATION
This article analyzes the problem of equivalence and adequacy in literary translation. Unlike literal translation, literary translation involves conveying the aesthetic, stylistic, and emotional characteristics of the original text. Equivalence ensures lexical and semantic accuracy, while adequacy preserves the overall artistic impact of the translation. The article explores the influence of linguistic and extralinguistic approaches in translation, the necessity of considering cultural differences, and the challenges faced in translating poetry and prose.
