Strategic Leadership and Corporate Sustainability: A Theoretical Perspective

This study explored the relationship between strategic leadership and corporate sustainability from a theoretical perspective. The findings indicate that strategic leadership, through visionary thinking, change management, and stakeholder engagement, plays a critical role in enhancing corporate sustainability. Leaders who prioritize sustainability foster long-term financial stability, environmental responsibility, and social impact, thereby ensuring their organizations remain competitive and resilient. Despite these benefits, challenges such as regulatory constraints, short-term financial pressures, and resistance to change hinder the widespread adoption of sustainability practices. Additionally, gaps in empirical and methodological perspectives, particularly in emerging markets, highlight the need for further research. To address these challenges, organizations should integrate sustainability into their strategic vision and ensure that leaders are trained in sustainability principles to drive long-term impact. Companies should develop robust change management frameworks to address resistance and facilitate smooth transitions toward sustainability-driven operations. Firms should actively involve stakeholders, including employees, investors, and policymakers, in sustainability initiatives to enhance accountability and effectiveness. Additionally, organizations should align their corporate strategies with recognized sustainability frameworks such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) to ensure transparency and global relevance. Policymakers should also create incentives and regulatory frameworks that encourage businesses to embed sustainability into their corporate strategies without compromising financial viability.
