In Kallakurichi District during 1930-34 in total 24 Congressmen were arrested. They were detained in Tiruchirappalli, Cuddalore, Vellore, Cannanore and Madras Jails. The Congressmen of the Kallakurichi District actively organized and actively participated in salt Satyagraha, boycott and temperance agitations.
