Therapeutic Insights into Hepatic Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury: A Systematic Review
This systematic review, synthesized using the Synthory.AI service, explores hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) with a focus on inflammation, oxidative stress, and therapeutic interventions. Following PRISMA guidelines, 18 articles were analyzed, highlighting the roles of hepatic macrophages, cytokines, and natural compounds. Key findings underscore Nogo-B and HO-1 as potential therapeutic targets and demonstrate the efficacy of interventions targeting TNF-α, IL-6, and reactive oxygen species in reducing inflammation and enhancing liver function. Despite promising insights, limitations such as reliance on animal models and small sample sizes restrict the generalizability of results. Future research should focus on larger, diverse cohorts and integrative approaches to improve translational potential and develop effective clinical therapies.
