Asteroseismology and Stellar Activity: Analysis of VIRGO data, Awaiting the PLATO Era
Asteroseismology has been successful in determining fundamental stellar parameters such as mass, radius and age. In this work, we use asteroseismic data analysis to determine active latitudes in stars. We demonstrate the validity of the analysis by applying the method to Sun-as-a-star data from VIRGO and comparing it with full-disk observations of magnetic fields from MDI and HMI. We show that we successfully recover the migration of activity bands over the solar cycle. Such analysis can be applied to the lightcurves from the upcoming PLATO mission for tens of thousands of Sun-like stars.
