Women's Entrepreneurship in the Health Sector: Systematic Literature Review
Purpose: The main aim of this study is to examine the articles written about women's entrepreneurship in the health sector through a systematic literature review. The sub-objective of the study was to determine the obstacles for women in entrepreneurial activities. Methods: PubMed and DergiPark databases were searched with the words "Women's entrepreneurship in health" and "Entrepreneurship". 18 articles were examined by systematic literature review. Findings: It is observed that the most articles related to women's entrepreneurship in health have been written on the topics of “Entrepreneurship Tendency” and “Factors Affecting Entrepreneurship”. Receiving entrepreneurship education is one of the leading factors motivating an entrepreneur. It has been seen in the articles that those who want to become entrepreneurs but have not received entrepreneurship education especially request such trainings. Full-time work is seen as one of the most important obstacles to entrepreneurship for people who work and study in the field of health. It is noteworthy that financial insecurity prevents an entrepreneur from taking risks, and accordingly, despite the desire to be an entrepreneur, there are people who turn to the government staff to avoid taking risks. Conclusion: Although most of the employees in the health sector are women, it can be said that not enough studies have been conducted on women's entrepreneurship in health. According to the findings obtained, it has been concluded that entrepreneurship-related trainings in health institutions and universities are insufficient. Only studies on female employees in the field can provide more detailed information.
