Reducing Cognitive Load in Digital Health Questionnaires: UX/UI Approaches

More people are using digital questionnaires to record information about their health, medicalconditions and behaviors. Yet, since surveys require a lot of concentration from users, some participantsend up feeling tired and provide unreliable answers. This article looks into ways to make UX and UI moreeffective in reducing mental stress and making people more interested in using digital health apps. Amongthe main methods used are simple forms, adaptive questionnaires, default values that are easy to fill outand straightforward guiding instructions adjusted to each user. With regard to cognitive load theory andhuman-centered design, the creators assess these strategies to find out if they help gather quality data andmake the tools friendlier for users. If design is based on users’ psychology, digital health apps can helpusers feel more trust in the platform, find it easier to use and view their collected data as useful.
