Rayleigh-Ritz Analysis Of Topology Optimized Composite Disks Under Parabolic Thermal Loads: Including Elastic Stress And Creep
Abstarct: This study presents a detailed investigation of the thermal creep impact on elastic stresses within a composite disk subjected to a parabolic temperature distribution. The disk, reinforced with steel fibers, is modeled as a thermo-elastic composite material. A Rayleigh-Ritz-based method, recognized for its efficacy in solving boundary value problems, is employed to derive analytical solutions for the radial and tangential stresses. This approach utilizes the principle of minimum potential energy to approximate displacement fields. These approximations are then used to compute stress components. The non-uniform thermal loading, stemming from the parabolic temperature profile, significantly influences the stress distribution. This research explores the interaction between thermal creep, inherent in the composite material, and temperature variations, resulting in complex stress patterns. By adjusting temperature parameters, the analysis demonstrates the sensitivity of stress components to thermal gradients. Comparative assessments of various temperature profiles are conducted, revealing critical areas of stress concentration. The results offer significant insights into the behavior of thermo-elastic composites under non-uniform thermal conditions, providing a robust analytical basis for future research and engineering applications. This research highlights the importance of considering both thermal creep effects and the Rayleigh-Ritz approximation in the design and analysis of composite structures exposed to variable temperature loadings.
