BioTivium-Zirconia-Titanium-Graphene Nanocomposite
This research investigates the development and characterization of BioTivium, a novel nanocomposite material for dental implants comprising zirconia (ZrO ), titanium (Ti), and functionalized graphenequantum dots (GQDs) in a unique hierarchical structure. The material addresses critical limitations of current implant materials, specifically bacterial colonization, osseointegration delays, and mechanical durability concerns. Through innovative nanofabrication techniques, BioTivium exhibits exceptional properties including antimicrobial activity, superior osseointegration kinetics, and enhanced mechanical parameters. In vitro and preliminary in vivo studies demonstrate significant improvements in bacterial inhibition zones (42% greater than titanium controls), osteoblast proliferation rates (increased by 63%), and fracture toughness (9.8 MPa·m½). The unique trilayer architecture with gradient porosity allows for tailored biological interactions at different tissue interface zones while maintaining structural integrity. This research establishes BioTivium as a promising next-generation biomaterial for dental implantology with potential applications in other load-bearing orthopedic contexts.
