DEVELOPING RUBRICS FOR ASSESSING COMPENSATORY COMPETENCE IN MIDDLE SCHOOL
Compensatory competence is a vital skill that enables middle school students to adapt to changes, solve problems, and overcome challenges by employing various strategies and available resources. Assessing compensatory competence effectively can lead to tailored interventions that enhance student learning and social adaptability. This paper explores the development of assessment rubrics to evaluate compensatory competence in middle school students. The proposed rubrics are grounded in key components such as adaptation, problem solving, and reflection. Through systematic rubric development and application, educators can monitor student progress, identify areas for improvement, and provide targeted support for skill development.
