Event Evaluation – Brazilian Python Workshop for Biological Data (2021)

This dataset contains the raw results associated with the study titled "Bridging the Python Training Gap for Bioscientists in Brazil: Improvements and Challenges". The study reports on the advances made during the 2021 and 2022 editions of the Brazilian Python Workshop for Biological Data (WPDB), originally established in 2017 (Zuvanov et al., 2021). It outlines the improvements implemented over the years based on feedback from previous editions and discusses new strategies aimed at the continuous enhancement of the workshop, which targets bioscientists with little to no prior programming experience. The raw data include responses from various surveys conducted during the 2021 edition (IV WPDB), such as participant evaluations (collected at the beginning, during, and end of the event), follow-up questionnaires for former participants, and surveys answered by members of the organizing committee. The instruments used were online questionnaires composed of both closed and open-ended questions. These surveys aimed to characterize the participant profile (e.g., academic background, institution, research area, funding status, prior experience with programming and/or Python, previous omics-related experience, expectations regarding the course, challenges, and types of research data generated). All participants provided informed consent by agreeing to the terms described in the "Termo de Consentimento Livre e Esclarecido (TCLE)". All data presented in this repository comply with the ethical standards established by the Research Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences at UNESP - Jaboticabal Campus (CEP/UNESP/FCAV).
