Emergent Gravity and Information Theory Rethinking the Foundations of Spacetime
Abstract: The fundamental nature of spacetime and gravity remains an open question in theoretical physics. Recent advances in emergent gravity models suggest that gravity may not be a fundamental force but rather a macroscopic consequence of quantum information dynamics. This paper explores how concepts from holography, quantum entanglement, and information theory can provide a new perspective on the origin of spacetime geometry and gravitational interactions. We investigate models where gravity emerges from entanglement entropy, tensor networks, and thermodynamic principles, linking these ideas to frameworks such as Jacobson’s entropic gravity, Verlinde’s emergent gravity, and the AdS/CFT correspondence. Additionally, we examine the potential implications for black hole thermodynamics, quantum gravity, and the unification of gravity with quantum mechanics. Observational signatures, including deviations in gravitational wave signals and cosmological structures, are also considered as potential tests of emergent gravity models. Key Highlights: Reinterpreting gravity as an emergent thermodynamic or information-theoretic phenomenon. Connections to holography, quantum entanglement, and tensor networks. Implications for black hole entropy, the information paradox, and space-time emergence. Potential deviations from general relativity in gravitational wave signals. Observational tests using astrophysical surveys and high-precision gravity experiments. By integrating quantum information theory, statistical mechanics, and holographic principles, this paper provides a new theoretical framework for understanding the foundations of gravity and spacetime and offers testable predictions that could reshape our approach to quantum gravity and cosmology. Keywords: Emergent gravity, holography, quantum information, entropic gravity, tensor networks, spacetime emergence, black hole entropy, quantum gravity, AdS/CFT, fundamental physics.
