EVALUATION OF VARIABLES PREDICTING LGS SCORES
In this study, the variables predicting LGS score were investigated. For this purpose, data were collected from 368 ninth grade students selected according to convenience sampling method. In the study, which was conducted according to the survey model, it was investigated whether the LGS score differed significantly in terms of various independent variables, and the variables predicting the LGS score were tried to be determined by multiple regression analysis. As a result of the multiple regression analysis, seven models were produced, and the main predictors of LGS scores were identified as practice exams, study pattern, reading time, mother's education level, taking private courses, private library, and sportive or artistic activities, respectively. According to these findings, it is recommended to participate in mock exams, to gain the habit of reading books and studying, and to take private courses during the preparation process for the LGS exam. Students should be directed to library environments and encouraged to use mass media. Considering that maternal education is an effective variable, mothers should be encouraged to be involved in the preparation process. The reasons for the dysfunction of guidance services in increasing LGS success should be investigated. Longitudinal studies should be conducted to further explain LGS exam success and the preparation process should be explained with more comprehensive observations.
