Comprehensive assessment and prospects of rose varieties for landscaping in the Middle Urals

The paper presents the results of a comprehensive study of the bioecological and decorative characteristics of varieties of the genus Rosa L. with subsequent selection of the most promising ones that can be used to expand the composition of plants used in urban landscaping in the Middle Urals. It was revealed that phenological changes in rose varieties in different years occur depending on weather conditions, and the beginning of the vegetation phase is not a unique feature of any particular garden group. Rose varieties from the group of hybrid musk roses (HMsk), floribunda (F.) and some varieties from the shrub group (S.) have the greatest resistance to biotic and abiotic environmental factors. Varieties from the group of hybrid tea (HT.) and climbing (R.) have the least resistance. Floribunda (F.), shrub (S.) and musk rose hybrids (HMsk) had high decorative value, which is explained by a long flowering period, greater abundance of flowering due to a large number of flowers blooming simultaneously, although varieties of these groups are not always distinguished by a high degree of originality. A direct and strong correlation was found between the indicators of plant damage by powdery mildew and damage by aphids.
