The Current Line of Development of Tsagolov School

The article deals with the problems of formation of a new line of development of N.A. Tsagolov's school, established at the Department of Political Economy of the Faculty of Economics of Lomonosov Moscow State University. The paper shows what methodological positions of the Tsagolov school this line of development was based, associated mainly with the name of Professor of the Political Economy Department A.V. Buzgalin. The step forward made by this direction consisted in studying the contradictions of socialist production relations, both those inherent in the first phase of communism and those determined by the insufficiently mature material prerequisites of socialism in the USSR. The other field of research of this school was the study of the latest trends in the evolution of modern capitalist society. The author emphasizes the role of human creative activity and the economic forms of its realization under capitalism. A.V. Buzgalin also substantiated the political-economic content of the thesis about the stage of “late capitalism”. Both the intensive scientific and talented teaching activities, together with an active public position, attracted a young generation of researchers to A.V. Buzgalin and ensured the formation of the Post-Soviet School of Critical Marxism.
