The response of the Earth's exosphere to the 10-11 May 2024 Superstorm

This presentation describes the evolution of the terrestrial exosphere based on physics-based kinetic simulations. We introduce what is the exosphere and why is important to study. Then, we show how to perform data analysis during geomagnetic storms using remote sensing observations of scattered Lyman-alpha (121.6nm) emission acquired by the TWINS/LAD instruments. Finally, we show the temporal evolution of the exosphere during the storm using a physics-based model know as the KInetic-based Terrestrial Exospheric (KITE) model. Our future work is to perform comparison with data from HST and GOES satellites.
