Beyond Time VIII: Entropy Gradients as the Ontological Basis of Time
AbstractThis paper proposes that time is not a fundamental dimension but an emergent property arising from local entropy gradients within the physical boundary conditions of the speed of light (c) and absolute zero (0 K). Building upon prior theoretical work, we formalize time as the rate of distinguishable state transitions in systems where entropy differentials exist. This reframing of time dissolves its paradoxical nature across thermodynamics, relativity, and quantum mechanics. We extend the theory cosmologically, positing that the Big Bang initiated an expanding entropic wavefront, beyond which no time can emerge. Regions of higher entropy gradients generate denser temporal flow, while areas with near-zero entropy remain timeless. This framework offers an explanatory model for observed cosmic expansion, time asymmetry, and gravitational dilation, while unifying thermodynamic, informational, and geometric interpretations of time.
