Integrating Body Language Techniques into ESL Instruction: A Case Study from Language Village Nabeul, Tunisia
This study sought to evaluate the effectiveness of integrating body language techniques into ESL instruction in the Tunisian context. Using a framework of a case study research design, this study investigated the impact of body language on ESL learning outcomes, identifying key body language cues that enhance learning experiences, and assessing the perceived effectiveness of integrating body language techniques in ESL instruction at Language Village Nabeul (LVN), Tunisia. Towards this end, two face-to-face interviews with moderators were conducted—one with a Sport Moderator and another with a Drama Moderator. The main purpose of the interview was to collect data on the role of physical activities and drama workshops in ESL education. The analysis of the interviews revealed that body language plays a critical role in enhancing ESL learning experiences at LVN, with both moderators emphasizing how drama and physical activities improve student engagement, motivation, and language acquisition. The findings underscore the importance of incorporating targeted body language techniques into ESL instruction to optimize learning outcomes and foster effective communication in educational settings like LVN. These insights contribute valuable implications for ESL teaching practices aimed at enhancing student motivation, persistence, and language skills.
