PAUL NATION'S CONTRIBUTION IN TEACHING SECOND LANGUAGE
Paul Nation is a leading second-language teaching expert, known for his important work in vocabulary learning and teaching methods. This thesis reviews his major contributions, focusing on the Four Strands model, which balances four areas: reading and listening, speaking and writing, studying vocabulary and grammar, and building fluency. Nation’s techniques, such as reading simple books (extensive reading) and practising vocabulary, make learning more effective. By examining his work, like Learning Vocabulary in Another Language, and insights from other researchers, this study shows how Nation’s ideas have improved teaching methods worldwide.
