Balancing Roles: Communication Strategies of Mompreneurs in Navigating Entrepreneurship and Parenting
This study explored the communication strategies of mompreneurs—mothers who managed online businesses while balancing family responsibilities. Using Walter Fisher's Narrative Paradigm Theory, the research examined how these women navigated the challenges of entrepreneurship and parenting. A qualitative, case-study approach was used, with in-depth interviews as the primary data collection method. Findings showed that mompreneurs employed various communication strategies to manage relationships with clients and family members, prioritizing openness, reliability, and time management. The study also highlighted how they addressed financial and emotional challenges through adaptive solutions. Ultimately, the role of mompreneurs shaped their parenting approaches and life goals, contributing to personal fulfillment and financial stability. The study recommended strengthening support systems for mompreneurs through mentorship programs and networking opportunities. Policymakers and institutions were encouraged to recognize the unique challenges mompreneurs faced and to implement supportive policies. Providing access to skill development and training programs could enhance their entrepreneurial capabilities. Additionally, promoting flexible work arrangements and advocating for gender equality in the business world were identified as essential steps toward fostering a supportive environment. This research contributed to a deeper understanding of mompreneurs’ experiences, shedding light on their unique narratives and the challenges they overcame. It offered valuable insights for policymakers, business leaders, and support organizations aiming to create a more inclusive entrepreneurial landscape for women balancing motherhood and business.
