Relationships between International Donors and Women's Rights NGOs in Jordan

In this research, I examine the relationships between women’s rights NGOs in Jordan and their international donors. .this research offers insight into the effects of the NGO structure on women’s activism in Jordan, and to the discourse around international involvement in local campaigns. Central themes that emerged included the ability of international pressures to affect change in Jordan, the effect of bureaucracy on the format and scope of women’s rights groups, and the boycotting of USAID funding as a case study to resistance of international interference in Jordan. In conclusion, I agree with the literature that doubts the ability of internationally funded NGOs to bring about meaningful structural change, but acknowledge the utility of foreign in-volvement in securing legal reform in Jordan.
