A OBRIGATORIEDADE DA TECNOLOGIA AFCI NOS INVERSORES PARA AUMENTAR A SEGURANÇA CONTRA INCÊNDIOS EM SISTEMAS FOTOVOLTAICOS

Photovoltaic systems (PVS) have gained prominence as a sustainable solution for energy generation, responding to the increasing demand for technologies that minimize environmental impacts. However, the safety of these systems, particularly concerning the risk of fires, remains a significant concern. In this context, the mandatory incorporation of Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI) technology in grid-tied inverters emerges as a relevant measure to enhance fire safety in PVS, while also raising questions about its financial and technical impacts. This study is quantitative in nature, aiming to demonstrate the financial impact on PVS resulting from the mandatory introduction of AFCI by comparing the financial costs of systems with and without this technology. Research was conducted on publications and websites related to fires occurring in PVS, their main causes, AFCI technology, and the costs associated with PVS. The general objective of this article is to evaluate the impact of the requirement for incorporating AFCI technology in new grid-tied inverters for PVS. This study reinforces the importance of adopting technological measures to ensure the safety of PVS while also emphasizing the need to balance these benefits with the economic viability of the system.
