Male (Figure 5A–B): Similar to S. caecus, but upperside of body greyish brown and darker, abdomen with a long black-brown stripe. Forewing longer than S. caecus, edge serrated; upperside browner, larger brown patch in the medial and marginal areas with more white scales, white zigzag line near apex; underside similar but more faded, basal to medial area pinkish. Hindwing mostly rose pink, incomplete small black ocellus near tornus with one small blue streak and a greyish yellow patch nearby; underside similar to forewing underside but without the pink area. Female (Figure 5C–D): Similar to male, but wings broader, ground pattern darker and more extensive, antennae slenderer. Male genitalia (Figure 6A–D): Similar to S. caecus, but uncus shorter and more curved, gnathos slender and slightly curved upward. Valva wider and more rounded. Sacculus leaf-shaped, with wider basal part constricted into a short, blunt harpe. Phallus similar to S. caecus, anterior lobe wider than posterior, with a short, blunt apical process and a weak lateral sclerite bearing a patch of weak cornuti. Female genitalia (Figure 7): Similar to S. caecus, but lamella postvaginalis slenderer. Ostial lobe narrower. Ductus bursae tubular and curved. Corpus bursae more rounded. Distribution. China (Xinjiang, Xizang, Ningxia, Gansu), Mongolia, Turkey, Cyprus, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Biological notes. This species was collected in middle to high elevation temperate deciduous broad-leaved forest, attracted to light at night.
