Socio-Economic Impact of Sugar Industry in the North-Eastern Part of Kolhapur District

In this paper an attempt has been made to analyze the socio-economic impact of sugar industry in the north-eastern part of Kolhapur district. In this area included two tahsils. The tahsil of the Shirol and Hatkanangale are important due to development in agriculture, cooperative movement & industrial activity for western Maharashtra. It is based on secondary data collection. The network of cooperative organization spread all over the respective region. The tahsil is also well known as sugarcane belt due to Datta, Gurudatta Panchganga, Jawahar and Sharad sugarcane industry. All of the sugar factories have been playing pivotal role.
