ESE CONCEPT - Real Time EPA Enforcement for Agricultural Equipment

Title: Real time control of Agricultural equipment to guarantee groundwater protection in Ireland. Problem Statement The EPA is responsible for monitoring and reporting air quality, water quality, soil, and other environmental factors. The EPA have repeatedly highlighted that intensive agricultural activities are impacting our groundwater, yet the sector must remain essentially unregulated because it is not yet possible to centrally monitor or control how agricultural equipment is operated. But we centrally monitor and control manufacturing equipment in the Life Science sector which is FDA regulated. Are these high TRL solutions transferrable to the EPA and the EU at large to help the regulator leverage digital technologies for real-time enforcement of best practice at the equipment layer? In essence, can we help the EPA and the AgTech sector to benefit from our Digital Transformation experiences in Life Science? Goal: To explore if it is realistic for high TRL solutions in the FDA regulated Life Science sector, to be rapidly transferred to the EPA regulated Agricultural sector, for the protection of our groundwater.
