Material of "Explanatory Dictionary of Compound Abbreviated Words of the Russian Language" in prescriptive aspect
The article deals with syntactic equivalents, which constitute the equivalence block of the "Explanatory Dictionary of Compound Abbreviated Words of the Russian Language" (hereinafter referred to as the "Dictionary"), from the point of view of prescriptivism. This part of the Dictionary's material has not been analyzed from the point of view of normativity before, although the Dictionary is intended as a prescriptive source of abbreviation transcripts for editors and translators. The methods of comparison, structural, onomasiological, semantic analysis, classification, and description have been applied in the research. The empirical corpus includes 950 uncodified transcripts, in which deviations from lexical, onomasiological, syntactic, and stylistic linguistic norms are detected. The material has been selected by the method of continuous sampling from the body of the "Dictionary", which is being compiled. As a result of the study, the types of deviations from generally accepted linguistic norms that underlie uncodified syntactic equivalents have been identified and described.
